No Outsiders and PSHE
No Outsiders is taught through a range of picture books that are selected carefully for each age group. The books allow children to reflect on diversity, equality and inclusion. These books and the message of No Outsiders - Everyone is Welcome - reflects our Christian Values. During our lessons, children get the opportunity for lots of discussion as well as drama and art based activities too.
In PSHE, we have similiar themes running across school each half term, we adapt our teaching so that it deals with issues at and age appropriate level. We also use our PSHE sessions to address any specific concerns of the class. We use PinK: People in the Know from Gloucestershire as a guide to the questions and discussions that we raise with our children.
Recently we took part in a 'No Outsiders' competition. The children had to prepare a 2 minute speech and deliver it without notes in front of an audience at 'The Storyhouse' about a time they have felt like an outsider. We are so proud of our 3 finalists and being part of a national video for it too!
