Autumn 1
We will be reading the book 'Gorilla' by Anthony Browne and explopring features that enhance our writing such as expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and the use of speech marks. We will build up towards writing our own story based on a similar format of 'Gorilla'. Within this unit, we will also be learning facts about real life gorillas and how amazing these creatures are.
Autumn 2
We will be using the book 'Greek Myths' to link with our topic 'Ancient Greece'. We will explore some Ancient Greek stories and poetry. At the end of the topic, we will use our imagination to write our own story based on the adventures of Odysseus.
Science
Autumn 1
Electricity - We will be thinking about what appliances use electricity and how to be safe around electicity too. We will be making our own electrical circuits using batteries, wires, bulbs and buzzers, making a switch and exploring what materials make good conductors of electicity and why.
Autumn 2
Sound - We will be looking at how sound is made, how sound travels and what sound waves look like at different pitches. We will also explore what materials make good 'sound insulators'.

Autumn 1
Prayer - We will be exploring Christian prayer and how we can pray in different ways. Then we will look at how people of other faiths pray - Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism.
Autumn 2
Christmas - We will be exploring why Jesus is known as 'light of the world' and analysing some artwork based around the Nativity. We will also make Christingles and find out the meaning of each part.
