Stef Boyle – Chair of Governors

Foundation Governor and Chair of Governors. I originally put myself forward as a governor because I wanted to be involved in the life and community of the school and I hoped that my experience and skills could be useful.I’m a youth worker for a small Christian charity in town called ‘Port Reach’, where we specialise in mentoring, adult literacy and personal development. In the past I was a board member of a local Women’s Aid for 4 years and their treasurer for 2 years.

Judith Derby

My name is Judith Derby and I have been a governor at Christ Church School for well over 15 years, having served on various committees as well as being both Chair and Vice Chair of Governors at different times.

I worship regularly in our parish at St. Lawrence Church in Stoak.

I have  considerable experience in teaching all age ranges in primary schools, including those with special educational needs, and also have lectured undergraduate trainee teachers in a College of Higher Education. Currently, I teach young children who are at an early stage of learning to read in a local primary school for three mornings each week.

I am supportive of the school and, as a critical friend, regularly question and challenge its work.

This is a really exciting time for Christ Church School and I can genuinely say that it is a real privilege to be involved in the work of the school at this time.

Gill Foster

My name is Gill Foster and I am an ex-officio Foundation Governor at Christ Church School by virtue of me being the Associate Rector at St Thomas and All Saints Church which of course is the church to which our school is linked.  This is my first time of serving on a governing body of a school even though I have four children; school governance did not cross my path whilst they were at school and so I was completely unaware of the level of involvement that a school governor holds in being a 'critical friend' to the school.   We have the privilege and responsibility of ensuring that every child coming into Christ Church School receives the best education and care relevant to each individual child in order for them to develop and grow to their full potential.  At present I am the link governor for our pupil premium children, Behaviour and Attitudes and SIAMS.  I try to be involved in the daily life of the school ensuring that the children and parents get to know me whether in my role as associate rector or governor which hopefully helps build the important link between church and school.
