Our Governors

Stef Boyle – Chair of Governors

Foundation Governor, Chair of Governors, Governor with responsibility for Finance, member of the Resources Sub-Committee and Curriculum Sub-Committee. I originally put myself forward as a governor because I wanted to be involved in the life and community of the school and I hoped that my experience and skills could be useful.I’m a youth worker for a small Christian charity in town called ‘Port Reach’, where we specialise in mentoring, adult literacy and personal development. In the past I was a board member of a local Women’s Aid for 4 years and their treasurer for 2 years.

Judith Derby – Foundation governor

My name is Judith Derby and I have been a governor at Christ Church School for well over 15 years, having served on various committees as well as being both Chair and Vice Chair of Governors at different times.

I worship regularly in our parish at St. Lawrence Church in Stoak.

I have  considerable experience in teaching all age ranges in primary schools, including those with special educational needs, and also have lectured undergraduate trainee teachers in a College of Higher Education. Currently, I teach young children who are at an early stage of learning to read in a local primary school for three mornings each week.

I am the chair of the curriculum subcommittee and a link governor for pupil premium children. I have had the opportunity of meeting and talking with many of these children in school. I am supportive of the school and, as a critical friend, regularly question and challenge its work.

This is a really exciting time for Christ Church School and I can genuinely say that it is a real privilege to be involved in the work of the school at this time.

Ex-officio Church Foundation Governor

My name is Gill Foster and I am an ex-officio Foundation Governor at Christ Church School by virtue of me being the Associate Rector at St Thomas and All Saints Church. This is my first time of serving on a governing body of a school even though I have four children school governance did not cross my path whilst they were at school and so I was completely unaware of the level of involvement and authority that a school governor holds.   We have the privilege and responsibility of ensuring that every child coming into Christ Church School receives the best education and care relevant to each individual child in order for them to develop and grow to their full potential.  I am the governor assigned to our ‘Looked After Children’ ensuring that school has designated teaching staff with special responsibility for promoting the education of our ‘Looked after Children’.

Mrs Susan Johnson – Foundation Governor

My name is Sue Johnson and I am a regular worshipper at St. Thomas and All Saints church and love being part of the church community.  I am a retired teacher and taught in primary schools for 20 years before moving into further education to teach maths.  I have 3 grandchildren ranging in age from 4 to 19, and my eldest grandson attended Christchurch School.  I chose to be a governor at the school because of my links to St Thomas’ church and the school, and because I now have the time, as well as the desire, to be involved.  I hope that my enthusiasm, combined with my background in education, will help me to be a useful governor to the school.

Mrs Debbie Wilkinson – DBE Foundation Governor

My name is Debbie and my role as a foundation governor is too ensure the Christian ethos of our school is in the foundation of all that we do, to ensure an all round positive learning environment for our children.  I help regularly in school including JAM club, RE lessons and Open the Book acts of worship.

James Worley, parent governor

James has a financial background and is a parent of 2 children in school. He sits on the ‘Resources’ committee and also holds responsibility for Health and Safety.
