Below is a short outline of our week (sometimes this may change due to timetable needs)

Monday- homework to be handed in

Wednesday- homework is sent home

Thursday- PE with Mrs Anderton - Please send your child into school with their PE kit on.

 

Maths Focus

This half term we will be working on recognising and representing numbers to 8. children will be learning their number bonds to 5.  The children will be learning how to compare mass and capacity. We will begin to combine to groups, using the language of addition. Children will finish off their half term with learning about the language around time. 

Reading Focus

The  children will start learning sounds in our phonics sessions. Children will be practicing blending and segmenting within their phonics sessions. Children will be accessing books in their phonics sessions and learning new 'red words'

 

Writing Focus Children will begin to apply their phonic knowledge by writing words and short sentences.  We will be looking at a variety of books, they will carry out reading and writing tasks based on these.  Children will be retelling stories and changing the endings to a familar story. 
Topic

Animals and their habitats! Children will be learning all about where animals live and where they live there. We are going to start off the half term with studying penguins!

PE On a Thursday afternoon we will be taking part in PE sessions with Mrs Anderton. Please make sure that children have their PE kits on as they come into school on Thursdays.
Computing Using ipads and programmable toys.
What can parents/carers do to help?
  • Completing homework – homework will be sent home on a Wednesday and should be returned on a Monday
  • Reading 5 times a week with your child
  • Supporting your child in recognising numbers in the environment
  • Contributing to your child’s learning journey on Tapestry
 Learning Journey During your child’s time in reception their learning will be captured through observations, videos and photographs and uploaded onto Tapestry.  We appreciate that a huge amount of learning takes place at home and would really appreciate you uploading any special learning moments onto Tapestry.
