Below is a short outline of our week (sometimes this may change due to timetable needs)

Monday- homework to be handed in on Tapestry, children to come in with their PE kit on.

Wednesday- homework is to be done between now and the following Monday.



Maths Focus

This half term we will be working on the composition of numbers 10-20, as well as noticing patterns in number. We will be focusing on spatial awareness and introducing children to doubles and sharing. Children will investigate odd and even numbers. 

Reading Focus

Children will be carrying on their phonics sessions, moving onto more complex sounds and practicing their blending of 3 and 4 letter words.


Writing Focus Children will begin to apply their phonic knowledge by writing sentences independently. Children will read both fiction and non fiction text and also writing in these genres too. We will be focusing on plastic pollution in our writing, the children will be writing letters and making posters. 

Looking after our planet. The children will be learning about the importance of recycling and not dropping litter. Children will learn about beaches and the importance of lighthouses. We will compares beaches now from beaches of the past. Children will be experimenting with floating and sinking.

PE On a Monday afternoon we will be taking part in PE sessions. Please make sure that children have their PE kits on as they come into school on Mondays.
Computing Using ipads and programmable toys.
RE We will be learning about who the disciples were and why they trusted Jesus.
What can parents/carers do to help?
  • Completing homework – homework will be sent home on a Wednesday and should be returned on a Monday on Tapesty. 
  • Reading 5 times a week with your child
  • Supporting your child in recognising numbers in the environment
  • Contributing to your child’s learning journey on Tapestry
 Learning Journey During your child’s time in reception their learning will be captured through observations, videos and photographs and uploaded onto Tapestry.  We appreciate that a huge amount of learning takes place at home and would really appreciate you uploading any special learning moments onto Tapestry.
