Welcome to Reception 

Home Learning Activities Week 1 and 2 Tasks (25th March-3rd April)


* Make a repearting pattern using objects from your home (these could be toys or natual objects from outisde)

* Play a board game that involves using a dice

* Look at different coins and practice saying the value of each one

* Addition sheet (see file below)

* Subtraction sheet (see file below)

* Complete 3 sessions on Numbots (3 x 20 minute sessions on different days)


* Go to and play Buried Treasure Game (3 x 20 minute sessions on different days)

* Practice writing and reading the key words (see file below)- this will be ongoing so please choose 3 or 4 to focus on a week

* Write a list of things that are in your garden 

* Read a book with a grown up- can you retell the story back to them

* Act out a familiar story with another member of your family

* Write the capations that your grown up reads to you (see file below)

Other Areas of Learning

* What signs of Spring can you see in your garden? Draw pictures or make a list

* Help prepare a meal for your family

* Keep a weather diary

* Junk modelling

* Practice your throwing and catching skills

* Make an Easter themed picture

Monday- homework to be handed in

Wednesday- homework is sent home

Friday- PE with Mrs Anderton


Maths Focus

* Recognising and writing numbers to 20

* Finding one more and one less than a number

* Adding and subtracting numbers up to 20

* Estimating and counting to check

Reading Focus

We will continue our daily Read Write Inc phonics sessions where children will embed and apply the sounds they have learnt so far.  Children will also be introduced to a range of High Frequency Words to aid their reading of simple sentences.  We will be discussing the stories that we listen to, looking at the words the author uses and what they mean.


Writing Focus Children will continue to apply their phonic knowledge by writing words and simple sentences.    We will be looking at the tradtional tale Jack and the Beanstalk and the story The Journey Home


PE On a Friday afternoonwe will be taking part in PE sessions with Mrs Anderto .   Please make sure that children have their full PE kits in school all week and that all items of clothing have their names in.

What can parents/carers do to help?
  • Completing homework – homework will be sent home on a Wednesday and should be returned on a Monday
  • Reading 5 times a week with your child
  • Supporting your child in recognising numbers in the environment
  • Contributing to your child’s learning journey on Tapestry
 Learning Journey During your child’s time in reception their learning will be captured through observations, videos and photographs and uploaded onto Tapestry.  We appreciate that a huge amount of learning takes place at home and would really appreciate you uploading any special learning moments onto Tapestry.
