Summer Term

Maths

In Maths this term, we will be continuing to practise our times tables in preparation for the end of Year 4 times table check in June.  

During Maths lessons, we will be completing our Fractions unit.  Then we will be continuing with Decimals, Money, Time, Shape, Statistics and Position and Direction.  

English 

Our 'No outsiders' book will be based on 'Dogs don't do ballet' where we will discuss how we can be who we want to be and when to be assertive.  

We will be reading and studying 'Where the forest meets the Sea' as well as a non-fiction book 'Rainforests in 30 seconds'.

Science

'States of Matter'.  We will be exploring the states of matter: solids, liquids and gases and carrying out investigations to find out if something can change its state of matter.  We will be finding out if all liquids freeze at the same rate and discovering the stages of the 'Water Cycle'. 

During the second half of Summer Term, we will be learning about 'Living Things and their Habitats'.  

Topic

Our new topic for the first half of the summer term will be 'Liverpool'.  We will look at maps to locate and identify different places in Liverpool.  We will look at the similarities and differences between Liverpool and Rome and use old maps to see how Liverpool has changed. 

During the second half of the summer term, we will be engaging in our whole school topic called 'Limitless Learning'. 

RE

'The Church' - We will not only be learning about features of the Church but other places of worship including the Synagogue, Mosque and Gurdwara. 

DT

Our new topic will be 'Mechanical Posters'.  We will be exploring different types of lever and linkage mechanisms.  The children will create their own 'Lever and Linkage Poster' using the context of recycling.

PE

We will be continuing with swimming on Thursdays and on Wednesdays we will be taking part in 'Comando Joe' activities. 

During the second half of the summer term, we will be taking part in athletics and rounders. 

Computing

Our topics this term will be 'Animation' and 'Music Making'. 

PSHE 

In Heart Smart we will be exploring the themes 'Fake is Mistake' and 'No way through isn't true'.
