Summer Term
Maths
In Maths this term, we will be continuing to practise our times tables in preparation for the end of Year 4 times table check.
During Maths lessons, we will be continuing with multiplication and division, including formal written methods. We will then move onto fractions and decimals. We will also be looking at time and money.
English
Our 'No outsiders' book will be based on 'Dogs don't do ballet' where we will discuss how we can be who we want to be and when to be assertive.
We will be reading and studying 'Where the forest meets the Sea' as well as a non-fiction book 'Rainforests in 30 seconds'.
Science
'States of Matter'. We will be exploring the states of matter: solids, liquids and gases.
Topic
Our new topic for the first half of the summer term will be 'Liverpool'. We will look at maps to locate and identify different places in Liverpool. We will look at the similarities and differences between Liverpool and Rome and use old maps to see how Liverpool has changed.
RE
'The Church' - We will not only be learning about features of the Church but other places of worship including the Synagogue, Mosque and Gurdwara. We will be concluding our topic with a trip to Liverpool to visit some of these amazing buildings.
DT
Our new topic will be 'Mechanical Posters'. We will be exploring different types of lever and linkage mechanisms. The children will create their own 'Lever and Linkage Poster' using the context of recycling.
PE
We will be continuing with swimming on Thursdays and on Wednesdays we will be exploring 'mindfulness' as well as preparing for Sports Day.
Computing
Our topics this term will be 'Animation' and 'Music Making'.
